iPhone 16 Pro with Moment Lenses | Compatibility & Example Images

It’s me, Patrick. Lover of good food, good movies, and even better iced lattes. Moment asked me to test their T-Series Mobile Lenses on Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro, so naturally, I stuffed the lenses in my pocket (kept most of the caps too) and hit the neighborhood. No-frills testing, just cars, chaos, and seeing what these lenses could actually do.

Honestly, I was impressed. Apple’s camera tech has been a personal favorite for years, and each new release pushes the envelope a little further. But I’ve gotta be real: the iPhone 16 Pro feels a lot like the iPhone 15 Pro. The outer frame is nearly identical, and the camera specs are almost the same. If you’re already rocking the 15 Pro, upgrading might feel like a stretch unless you’re obsessed with the 16’s built-in mic (which is crazy good). But let’s cut to the chase. Are Moment’s attachable lenses going to outperform the iPhone’s built-in cameras? Time to find out.

1. Wide 18mm Lens

This lens is the workhorse. It’s wider than the main 1x 24mm lens but not as wide as the 13mm ultra-wide when attached to the main 48MP 1x camera, giving you a wider shot with better aperture and quality. This lens is subtle but solid, and I think that’s the point. It’s the underdog most people would skip over, but honestly, it outperforms the iPhone’s ultra-wide, which warps the edges and struggles in low light. The 18mm gives you a clean, well-composed shot every time. I wish this was the default focal length on the iPhone.

2. Tele 58mm

This year’s iPhone still has the 5x periscope lens from last year’s model, but here’s the thing: I’m not a massive fan of the 5x zoom. It’s just too much. The 3x zoom hits the sweet spot for me. It’s closer without being overkill.

That’s where the Tele 58mm comes in. It attaches over the 1x native camera and gives you sharp, high-quality images without the insane reach of the 5x zoom, and thanks to Apple’s 48mp fusion sensor - you can still use your 2x with the 58mm attached giving you effectively 3 lenses out of one sensor now, instead of two.

3. Fisheye 14mm

The fisheye look is just fun, plain and simple. It’s perfect for street scenes and throwing a little creative flair into Reels or TikToks. The 14mm is wider than the iPhone’s ultra-wide and gives a sharper, cleaner image. This lens has that classic, exaggerated fisheye distortion, but in a way that’s sharp and usable. Perfect for music videos, fashion shoots, and its most infamous use case… skateboard videos.

4. Macro 10X and 75mm

These lenses are more niche, but they’re still incredible for anyone into macro photography or videography. The 75mm is a favorite for close-up product shots, giving that creamy background bokeh that feels like a mirrorless setup. The Macro 10X even comes with a diffuser hood, which softens shadows and makes close-up shots look extra polished. Perfect for anyone who loves getting up close and personal with their subjects.

5. Anamorphic 1.33x and 1.55x

If you’re aiming for that classic cinematic look, these lenses are where it’s at. The 1.33x and 1.55x anamorphic lenses give you that wide, movie-like view that’s impossible to capture with just your phone. And no, slapping black bars on your footage isn’t the same thing. These lenses also give you those iconic blue or gold flares that scream “cinema.” It’s a must-have if you’re a mobile filmmaker looking for that polished Hollywood look.

My PT160D Preset for iPhone

While we’re talking about iPhone photography, I’ve created a Lightroom preset called PT160D that gives your iPhone photos the classic look of Kodak Portra 160 with a little custom flair. It’s designed for iPhone ProRAW, but if your phone doesn’t support that, it’ll still work with .DNG files. It’s super easy to use and gives your photos that film vibe without the hassle of shooting on actual film. Great for portraits, landscapes, or anything that needs that timeless, “I swear this is film” look. This preset is developed for daylight shooting, so head out in the sun and have some fun - I’m also working on a 160T preset for nighttime shooting that should be out soon.

So, should you grab Moment’s lenses? If you’re into mobile filmmaking or just want to push the limits of what your iPhone camera can do, they’re worth checking out - if you have no plans to upgrade to the new phones this year (totally cool) adding Moment lenses is an excellent budget friendly way to bring new life to your camera system. The lenses offer a noticeable improvement over the built-in options and let you get creative with your shots in ways your phone can’t on its own.
