Which QuickLock Filter Is Right for Me?

A clear, creator-friendly breakdown of Moment's 4 QuickLock filters, what they do, and which one to use for better iPhone photos and video.

1. QuickLock CineBloom Diffusion Filter

Best For: Dreamy portraits, film-like softness, glowing highlights, and creators chasing a less-digital look.

CineBloom is Moment’s signature diffusion filter, now made for your iPhone with QuickLock. Available in 10% and 20% strengths, it snaps onto the front of your phone camera and instantly gives photos and video a softer, more cinematic feel.

This is the filter you reach for when your iPhone footage feels a little too sharp or “phone-y.” CineBloom gently takes the digital edge off by softening highlights, blooming light sources, smoothing skin tones, and adding that subtle film-inspired glow that’s too hard to fake in post.

The 10% CineBloom is the everyday sweet spot. It’s soft, but still clean. The 20% CineBloom is the more stylized option for subjects like night lights, music videos, hazy interiors, neon signs, moody hotel rooms.

I’ve used CineBloom on my iPhone for golden hour portraits, travel clips, and quick little golden hour moments, and it always adds just enough atmosphere without making the image feel messy. Light blooms so wonderfully and the whole scene gets kissed with a little more soul.

It’s also built like real gear, which I love. The glass is made with fine black particulates that create the diffusion effect while keeping the image clear. It’s lightweight, durable, and small enough to live in your everyday kit.

If you’re craving character and softness, CineBloom is the one.

2. QuickLock Variable ND Filters

Best For: Mobile filmmakers, cinematic motion blur, bright daylight video, and creators who want more control over exposure.

The Variable ND is probably the most useful QuickLock filter for anyone shooting video on an iPhone. It works like a traditional VND filter for a mirrorless or cinema camera, only sized for your phone.

A Variable ND Filters lets you control how much light hits your iPhone camera. That matters because when you’re shooting video in bright daylight, your phone often cranks up the shutter speed, which can make movement look overly digital. Water, trees, walking shots, cars, handheld movement, all of it can start to feel a little too crisp. But this filter helps bring back more natural motion blur, which makes footage feel smoother and more cinematic straight out of camera.

Moment’s QuickLock VND comes in 2–7 stops, depending on how much light control you need. Lower stops on the VND are the more everyday option for cloudy days, casual video, and mixed light. But the higher you “stop”, the better the VND gets for super-bright midday sun, where your iPhone is fighting a crap ton of light.

The hard-stop design is truly what makes it feel so damn good in the hands. It keeps you from over-rotating into that weird X-pattern you can get with some variable ND filters, removing any guessing games and lets you shoot more efficiently.

This is the filter for people who care about making their iPhone footage feel less like a phone clip and more like a proper camera setup.

3. QuickLock CPL Filter

Best For: Landscapes, water, cars, windows, travel, hiking, and creators who want cleaner color with less glare.

The QuickLock CPL Filter is like sunglasses for your iPhone lens, except more useful and less likely to end up at the bottom of your tote bag.

A CPL, or circular polarizer, helps reduce reflections and glare while making colors feel richer and more natural. If you’ve ever tried shooting through a windshield, photographing a lake, capturing a shiny car, or shooting landscapes under bright sun, you’ve probably seen how reflections can flatten or ruin a shot. This filter helps clean all of that up. It deepens blue skies, cuts glare off water and glass, and gives greens, reds, and earth tones a little more punch without making everything look overcooked. It’s one of those quiet little tools that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you use it, you start noticing all the shots it saves.

This is especially awesome for outdoor creators, travel photographers, hikers, road trippers, and anyone who shoots around reflective surfaces. This CPL QuickLock is adjustable, too, so you can rotate it until the glare disappears or the color lands where you want it. Truly the most tactile way to shoot high-dynamic scenes on the move.

If CineBloom adds mood and the VND adds motion control, the CPL adds clarity. It helps your iPhone see through the glare and capture the scene closer to how it felt in real life.

4. QuickLock UV Filter

Best For: Everyday protection, travel, dusty trails, fingerprints, and people who are deeply tired of wiping their iPhone camera lens on their shirt.

The CineClear UV Protection Filter is the simplest filter in the lineup, but honestly, it might be the one you use the most.

It’s made to protect your iPhone camera glass from dust, scratches, fingerprints, and all the tiny disasters that happen when your phone lives in pockets (guilty!).

This is the filter for travel days, hikes, road trips, beach shoots, and everyday carry. It’s the one you snap on when you want a little peace of mind without thinking too hard about it.

The glass is made from ultra-clear German-glass so all the pictures look just as they would when taken on the camera phone without the filter; you get zero rid haze or color shift.

If you’re precious about your phone camera glass, same. CineClear is the low-effort, high-reward filter to keep on hand.

5.  How To Use Moment QuickLock Filters

QuickLock filters are crafted to make iPhone shooting feel less clinical and more like using a real camera tool with depth, softness, and character. Instead of screwing on a big filter mount or carrying a full mobile rig, you just use a compatible Moment Case, line up the filter over your iPhone camera, press it in, and twist to lock it into place.

Remember, though, that QuickLock filters work only with iPhone 15 and newer, and they are model-specific, so double-check your phone’s exact model and case before buying. And must use a Moment phone case in order to use them.
