How Moment QuickLock Filters Work (And Why You Need Them)

The new QuickLock Filters are some of the best products Moment has ever made. I put them to the test on the streets in Calgary to really show off their potential.

Why Choose Moment QuickLock Filters?

Filters help manually adjust your phone's photo and videos, without the need for extra fake post-production or fussiness. Using them on your phone are a great nod to the pros who want better-looking iPhone results. These QuickLock filters from Moment have completely changed the way I view shooting on mobile; be sure to check out the YouTube video for more visual references if that's your thing.

Best part? The QuickLock filters are super easy to use. They snap on smoothly with a simple twist, are small enough to fit in your pocket, with pro-level results straight form your iPhone. The quality is impressive for how low-effort it takes.

In fact, you don't have to remove them. Unlike the 67mm filters add-on's — these non-bulky attachments makes it so that I can keep them on my phone forever — even if I slip it in my pocket.

The Moment QuickLock Filter Lineup

Moment offers a variety of QuickLock filters, each designed to achieve a different creative effect. Below are the three main types I tested in downtown Calgary, Alberta.

1. CineBloom QuickLock Filters

The more stylized out of the bunch. If you love a dreamy, cinematic aesthetic, the CineBloom filter is your best bet. Rather than capturing that crisp, hyper-digital look — the filter diffuses harsher edges and smooths out details and takes away that clinical feeling.

In practical terms, it softens skin textures (a blessing for portrait shots) and adds a subtle glow to bright lights — especially noticeable during golden hour or nighttime city footage.

The CineBloom comes in varying strengths, so you can start mild (like 10%) if you just want a hint of haze, or move up to the 20% if you’re after a more pronounced, diffused vibe.

  • Choose from different strengths (10%, 20%, etc.) and start with the lower intensity. This gives you flexibility to dial up the effect as needed.
  • Observe how it handles light; notice how bright sources produce a gentle halo effect.

2. CPL QuickLock Filter (Circular Polarizer)

For landscape fans, street photographers shooting through glass, or car enthusiasts capturing shiny surfaces, the CPL QuickLock Filter is indispensable.

With a quick twist of the filter ring, you can cut down reflections from water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces. This can make skies appear deeper blue and clouds pop in contrast, all while making sure natural-looking colors stay true-toned.

The trick is finding the perfect angle: just rotate the filter until you see the glare magically vanish, and you’re set.

It's the go-to for most outdoor or travel photographers so that can easily capture the whole scene without losing key details. It's hard to bring back over-blown highlights when editing a mobile photos, so these are the best bet for perfect quality in a single capture.

  • Keep the filter clean and smudge-free for the best results.
  • I'm serious, take one step to the right or left! Small adjustments can emphasize the colors depending how the light hits your subject or foreground.

3. VND QuickLock Filter (Variable Neutral Density)

Ever seen those silky-smooth water shots or those photos where busy city streets blur into artistic streaks of color? That’s where the VND QuickLock Filter comes in.

By rotating the outer ring, you can reduce the amount of light hitting your sensor without messing with your camera settings.

This is perfect for shooting long exposures in bright daylight or maintaining a consistent shutter speed for that classic “cinematic motion blur” when filming video. And if you’re the type who loves experimenting with slower shutter speeds, this is the filter that’ll create even more subdued movement if you're shooing fast action.

This is pretty much every filmmaker's secret to getting that "cool", movie-like look to your shots.

  • Helps maintain shutter speeds (e.g., 1/50 sec at 24 fps) for more natural motion in video.
  • Start by setting your preferred exposure without the filter, then gradually dial in the ND strength while monitoring your camera’s exposure meter or histogram (this can be done in the Moment Pro Camera App on mobile!).

Grab the Moment Case!

To actually use these QuickLock Filters — you’ll need a Moment camera phone case — available for the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro series.

Not only does it protect your phone (with a plush microfiber lining and MagSafe compatibility), but it also allows you to attach both T-Series lenses and QuickLock Filters.

Once it’s on, switching filters is as easy as twisting one off and popping another on, making it practically effortless to keep shooting.
