Looking For a New Tripod?

A photographer's or filmmaker's work relies on many factors—skill, a quality camera, lighting, color, composition, and a solid tripod. Without a dependable tripod, your shots can end up shaky, and anyone who’s struggled to focus through a blurry lens knows this all too well.

But finding the right tripod can be tough. That’s why we've done the legwork for you, helping you choose one that suits your style and needs. We looked closely at durability, portability, and stability. As always at Moment, our team personally tested each tripod across various conditions. Over the course of a week, we shot photos, captured footage, and used them on all kinds of terrain.

You can trust that these tripods offer the stability and precision you need to capture stunning shots every time.

1. Peak Design Travel Tripod

Best For: Traveling photographers needing a tripod as robust as their adventures.

Everyone loves this thing. If you need a sturdy, travel-friendly option, the Peak Design Travel Tripod is for sure the best-selling choice.

Peak Design has a well-earned reputation for crafting high-quality gear, and I couldn't agree more. We tested the carbon fiber model, which weighs just 2.8 lbs (1.27 kg) and packs down to 15.4 inches (39.1 cm), making it easy to slip into a 17L backpack or larger camera bag. The aluminum version is also compact, weighing 3.4 lbs (1.5 kg).

With a 360-degree ball head, this tripod offers a silky smooth setup with really easy handling. It’s sturdy enough to support a Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR with a 24-70mm lens. Plus, it features a built-in phone mount that cleverly tucks away inside the center column.

This thing is built so darn tough and can be brought nearly anywhere. It's the most talked about tripod in our community for a reason; plus, Peak reimagines camera gear through generations of creators like us, built on the feedback we give them. It's a no-brainer.

2. Switchpod

Best For: An all-in-one small shoot.

Made by a passionate team of real creators, it's everything they wanted but couldn't find on the market. This ingenuous tripod is sexy-looking but converts from vlog to tripod in seconds. Thanks to its ultra-modular design and compact body size for travel, it's the perfect contender for hybrid shooters.

It works seamlessly with any camera, whether a smartphone or a DSLR, making it a versatile choice for content creators with tons of camera options. It easily flips between handheld and tripod modes in seconds, so you can go from setup to shooting without a bunch of fuss. It’s all about saving you time so you can focus on capturing content instead of adjusting gear.

Vloggers especially will appreciate its design. The quick-release feature lets you snap your camera on or off instantly, and the sturdy tightening knob keeps your camera securely in place through all your quick changes.

4. JOBY GorillaPod 3K Pro

Best For: Low-stakes projects.

The GorillaPod 3K Pro is a team favorite for its tough build and flexibility, but it’s not the best choice for every situation. Think about your project needs before grabbing it.

The GorillaPod 3K works best for smaller or low-key projects. It’s a mini tripod, so while it’s super flexible, it’s limited in what it can handle — it won’t be ideal for big professional photos or film shoots. At just 9.4 inches tall and weighing only 8.7 oz, it’s great for portability but not built for heavy-duty setups.

This mini tripod is perfect for smaller cameras with entry-level DSLRs or compact mirrorless options. Some parts are rubberized for a better grip on uneven surfaces, while the stainless steel and ABS plastic parts add a bit of durability to keep them steady.
